Why it happens
Active Acne & Congestion, explained plainly.
Acne begins inside the pore. Oil glands produce more sebum than the pore can clear, dead cells stick together and form a plug, and bacteria that normally live on the skin multiply in the trapped oil, provoking inflammation. Hormones drive much of this, which is why breakouts in adult women often follow the jawline and chin. Heat, humidity, sweat, heavy or pore-clogging sunscreen and make-up, and stress can all aggravate congestion. Persistent, deep or scarring acne deserves a medical assessment.
