Acne Scarring

“My acne cleared years ago, but the scars stayed.”

Why it happens

Acne Scarring, explained plainly.

A scar forms when inflammation from a deep blemish damages the collagen beneath it. As the skin heals, it may produce too little new tissue, leaving a depression, or fibrous bands may tether the surface downwards. The result is a change in texture rather than colour: narrow pits, broader box-like hollows, or soft rolling unevenness. Less often, the skin overproduces collagen and the scar is raised. Established scars do not fade away by themselves, and they often look more obvious with age as the surrounding skin loses firmness.
