Why it happens
Excessive Underarm Sweating, explained plainly.
In focal hyperhidrosis the sweat glands themselves are normal, but the nerves that switch them on are overactive, so sweating occurs beyond what the body needs for cooling. It often begins in adolescence, tends to run in families and can be set off by warmth, stress or nothing at all. Dubai's heat and humidity make it harder to live with, although it persists in cool, air-conditioned rooms too. It is a recognised medical condition, not a hygiene issue.
