Crepey Neck

“My neck has started to look older than my face.”

Fine, tissue-paper crinkling across the front of the neck with horizontal 'necklace' lines that no longer fade, and sometimes a looser look beneath the chin. The chest may show similar fine lines and sun mottling.

Why it happens

Crepey Neck, explained plainly.

Neck skin is thinner than facial skin, has fewer oil glands and sits over a broad, thin muscle that moves constantly. It is also easily forgotten when applying sunscreen. Over time, collagen loss and sun exposure leave the surface finely crinkled, and horizontal lines deepen, possibly encouraged by hours spent looking down at screens. Because the neck has less support than the face, it often shows age early and deserves its own attention.
