Volume Loss & Facial Balancing

“My face looks hollow and drawn, and the folds beside my mouth have deepened.”

A loss of fullness in the cheeks and temples, hollowing beneath the eyes, deeper folds from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and lips or a chin that seem to have lost their definition. The face reads as tired or drawn rather than lined.

Why it happens

Volume Loss & Facial Balancing, explained plainly.

The face is supported by pads of fat, by bone and by ligaments as much as by skin. From the thirties onwards the fat pads of the mid-face slowly shrink and descend, the bone of the cheek and jaw remodels, and the ligaments that hold everything in place loosen. Support is lost where it gives lift, in the cheeks and temples, while tissue gathers where it adds weight, in the lower face. The result is hollowing above and folds below, even when the skin itself is in good condition. Weight loss, heredity and sun exposure all influence how early it shows.
